Silver Lake Millennials War With Boomers in America's "Most Livable" Community BY PATRICK RANGE MCDONALD

Silver Lake Millennials War... It's around 9:30 p.m. on a brisk Wednesday night in Silver Lake, and Charles Herman-Wurmfeld, an affable, native New Yorker who takes an inner satisfaction, if not outright glee, in redefining conventional wisdom, is looking to blow off a little steam. Wrapped in a bright, multicolored poncho that was made in Peru, Herman-Wurmfeld and friend Amy Clarke decide to take a Metro bus to Craft Night at low-key, gay bar Akbar, on Sunset Boulevard, and nearly a mile away. Alana, 21, Danielle, 24, and Este, 27, in matching black motorcycle boots, are double-booked this afternoon, with back-to-back performances and interviews on two different programs. Petty Cash Review: Fancy Tacos and Mezcal in Mid-City BY BESHA RODELL

Petty Cash Review: Fancy Ta... Let's be honest: It's hard to get behind a purveyor of fancy tacos. This seeming contradiction goes against so many of tacos' sacred truths — that they are cheap; that the best of them generally is made in modest circumstances; that there rarely, if ever, has been a taco that benefited from a voguish setting or hipster soundtrack. If your taco epiphanies happened anywhere other than on the ... more >>

Don Jon Review: Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Impressive Writing-Directing Debut Examines Porn Addiction BY STEPHANIE ZACHAREK

Don Jon Review: Joseph Gord... To paraphrase The Bee Gees, Joseph Gordon-Levitt should be dancing. He's already done it in (500) Days of Summer, where he led an exuberant ensemble routine that out–Dr Peppered any Dr Pepper commercial. Then there was his smashing Saturday Night Live re-creation of Donald O'Connor's "Make 'Em Laugh" — like O'Connor, he has springs where his joints should be. If you can dance on a bik... more >>
