Pop Genre Benders - An Evening with Yellow Minute & Wooden Indian. 7pm, Monday, August 19th at MIM Music Theater Yellow Minute Atmospheric, psychedelic, indie-pop band Yellow Minute reinvented itself after a trip to Europe in 2006. There, bandleader Sean Brennan discovered the burgeoning electronica scene, seeding his songwriting process. Brennan sketched out songs on an acoustic travel guitar, to be completed back home. The current incarnation of Yellow Minute is a "full-fledged collaborative effort" featuring musicians who contributed to Brennan's solo work: Dear and the Headlights guitarist PJ Waxman, bassist David Maroney, and drummer Greg Muller, the latter two from What Laura Says. Wooden Indian The music of Wooden Indian is composed by vocalist Wally Boudway and his longtime creative collaborator Ross Andrews. The songs are enacted in a joint effort with the Thunder Choir: David Moroney (bass, drum kit, percussion), Greg Muller (drum kit), James Hanna (bass, percussion), Patrick Rowland (piano, synthesizer, percussion), and Tony Patino (samples, synthesizer, banjo). Wooden Indian blends elements of folk-blues, avant-garde electric rock, Afro-pop, soundtrack, and world music into a concoction unlike any other. A cash bar will be open one hour prior to the start of the concert. Concert doors open thirty minutes prior to the start of the show. An I Am AZ Music concert |
