Disability Studies is an emerging academic field that explores disability through a variety of lenses, including the social sciences, public policy, medicine, and the arts. The CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) offers Disability Studies programs on the bachelor’s, master’s and graduate certificate levels, with courses held both online and in person.

The Disability Studies programs provide a "person-centered" approach to the study of disability; they promote a new way of thinking about the field, and equip individuals with the skills to improve the lives of people with disabilities. You’ll have the opportunity to examine key areas of disability, such as intellectual/development disabilities, the Autism Spectrum Disorder, and mental/behavioral health.

Additionally, the programs prepare you to further or begin a career working with or for people with a wide range of disabilities as a service provision employee, disability advocate, researcher, and more.

Learn more about their disability studies programs by attending an information session on Wednesday, October 2nd at 6pm EDT either in person at 365 Fifth Ave, Room C201/2, in NYC, or online. Contact CUNY SPS at information@sps.cuny.edu or 212.652.CUNY with any questions.
